Icelandic Pictures

I have finally uploaded the Iceland pictures. It was nice to look at them again as they floated by in Picasa to remember how nice it was and how we'd like to go back and spend more time. The first day we were in Reykyavik at the Hotel Loftleidir. Our room was quite efficient and across the street from the Pearl. The Pearl is warm water containers with a glass dome sitting on top that has a restaurant and a museum. Once we woke up in the afternoon we walked around there and took pictures of the city. The Pearl is surrounded by a nice wooded area with paths and I can see that it's probably great for biking in the summer time. Ray thought it was cool because of the old bunkers and the sculptures outside of the restaurant. After we did that we caught a taxi to downtown to have dinner. On the way we went to the National Museum (free on Wednesdays) and realized we could have spent a lot more time there! On our walkabout we saw a great cemetary that I did not get pictures of... We had dinner at a nice Mexican restaurant that impressed Ray because they knew what 'blue rare' meant.

The whole day we were there we went on a tour that involved seeing the difference between the two continental tectonic plates, Gullfoss (the waterfalls), and the place where geysirs were first seen and named. We also convinced our tour guide to let us see some ponies close up.

The third and last day was spent getting to the Blue Lagoon and realizing (wishing) we could have made a whole holiday just out of it! Oh the feeling of warm water neck high and your feet in warm silicone mud... Ahhhhhhhh.......
